Background:
In 2013, we received an enquiry on our website from Mr. Dinesh Bhutada, a businessman and a philanthropist from Akot, a small Taluk place in Akola district of Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. He wanted to build a state-of-the-art school for the students of his small town. When we met him, he had a building plan on two acres of land located approx. 2 kilometers away from the center of the town.
Upon meeting our founder Dr. Dhirendra Mishra, we decided to conduct a feasibility study to estimate the potential of the town. Upon analysis of the feasibility report, the scale of the project was increased and on a land size of 5 acres approximately 95,000 sq. ft. of construction was planned. The construction was divided into three phases i.e. 24,000 square feet, 34,000 square feet and 36,000 square feet.
LIFE’s Role and Tenure:
LIFE EDUCARE was a turnkey school setup consultant where we did feasibility, architecture planning, resource planning, Principal and Teacher recruitment, school systems and formats, Teacher Training, School Branding & Promotion (from logo designing to executing the marketing plan) entrance examination planning, curriculum designing and necessary regulatory permissions. The school was launched in April 2015.
The School Discovery Exercise:
Akot did not have any school that delivered 21st century education. There were no CBSE-affiliated school in the town. Vidyanchal The School was the first CBSE school (CBSE Affiliation Number 1130676). We started admissions from classes Nursery to Grade 4 in the first year. We had a total of 510 seats available in the school and all the seats were full in the first year. The success of the school gave motivation to the school to expand. School currently has classes from Nursery to 12th with over 1700 students. The school saw a reverse migration and a few families that had left Akot and got settled in places like Amravati and Akola came back to the town and got their kids admitted in Vidyanchal The School. Another reverse migration was among the teachers, the school plies a bus from Akola (the district headquarter and a big town) to Akot every day and over 40 teachers come to Akot to teach. LIFE Educare till date recruits and trains teachers for the school.
